The University of Szeged (USz) with a history dating back to 1581, was ranked the best Hungarian university in 2018, making it to list of the best 500 universities of the world. The University of Szeged is a prestigious higher education institution, rich in traditions committed to maintaining quality education on all levels including Bachelor, Master, Doctoral programmes, higher education specializations, advanced specific trainings, providing quality health care, basic and applied research, research & development, fine arts and music.The former rector, Nobel Laureate Albert Szent-Györgyi (1937), who was the first to isolate Vitamin C, extracting it from Szeged paprika.

 

The USz is one of the largest domestic higher education complexes with 12 Faculties and more than 60 full-time degree programs for international students, where about 21,000 university students enrich their knowledge, including more than 4,100 foreign students coming from 115 countries. Scholarships, such as the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme and the USz START Scholarship assist students from various regions of the world to attend the University.

 

QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) has published the latest ranking of universities in Emerging Europe and Central Asia (EECA) with the region’s top 150 universities on Wednesday 21st October 2015. It is an excellent result that the University of Szeged (USz) is ranked on the 13rd place in this ranking. With this result USz has been in the top 10 percentage. USz is located in the sunniest city of Hungary attracting thousands of young people due to its lively, urban student life, colourful festivals and safe environment. Although student life here is buzzing, Szeged is a quiet, and peaceful place to live.
